We’re just going to lay it out there. Cache Cache is one of the best fine-dining experiences in this mountain town, and aside from a menu that Chef Lanter keeps fresh and innovative, the reason Cache Cache stays high on our list is because this establishment exudes an energy and flair second to none. Cache Cache is a well-oiled machine, and it needs to be — it accommodates some of the biggest names who come to Aspen (just try getting a reservation Christmas week). The restaurant’s swanky bar offers some of the best people watching in town, a crowd mixed with fur-wearing tourists and local players; it’s truly a scene to be seen. Cache Cache also offers an unbelievable wine list, appealing to cork sniffers from around the world, and a French-inspired menu that will knock your socks off. We find it hard to deviate from the Alaskan king crab with cantaloupe, sweet avocado, and cilantro butter — seriously; it melts in your mouth. The escargot is off-the-charts good, and the veal osso buco and rack of lamb never disappoint. Let us just say this: we are always up for Cache Cache if the hubbies are up for paying, and it should be a priority on anybody’s “must hit” list on a visit to Aspen.
